Race

To save time, everyone had to be a human.

Ability Scores

  • Strength
  • Intelligence
  • Dexterity
  • Wisdom
  • Constitution
  • Charisma

Roll 4d6 and drop the lowest. Place scores in any order desired. Pick one ability score to be prime. Once per day, character may treat prime ability score as 2 points higher for any ability checks or to gain the higher level ability score's bonus.

Ability Score Bonus

Next to each ability score, write down its effect modifier.

Optionally, next to each ability score, roll a percentile. This indicates how far away from the next point the character lies. Not necessary but if players have time to kill and feel like rolling. It is handy for handing out bonus points for playing well. A common occurrence is to reward a player 1d20 points to a particular ability if they were creative.

Character Archetype

Players choose an Archetype and then write down the 12 Maneuvers associated with that Archetype. Every player has a THAC0 of 10, which means they can hit an unarmored opponent (AC 0) 50% of the time.

Health

Each player starts with their Constitution plus their Archetype hit dice plus their Constitution modifier. This eliminates weak players with only 4 hp and makes the party able to take more damage, so encounters must be adjusted accordingly.

Example: Sir Rick, the Avenger, has a 16 Consitution. He rolls 1d10 and adds his Constitution modifier plus his Constitution. After rolling a 7 on his 1d10 die roll, he gets 7 + 2 + 16 = 25.

The idea behind giving the players a hit dice roll at level 1, is that they are a cut above your typical average person. In essence, a level 0 monster or human would have about 12 hp (their constitution), whereas players have already become heroes and hence, get an their first hit die roll for their class.
